President’s Message

Hello and welcome to the Public Purchasing of East Texas (PPAET) website.

When I first started working in governmental procurement I did not have a lot of experience and needed much training and support. I found that joining a purchasing organization that provided training, networking opportunities and an open platform to ask questions (such as a listserv) were invaluable to me. This is what allowed me acclimate to my new position faster. I have now been in governmental procurement for 7 years and still need that support. Even though we might work for different agencies and the procurement laws might be slightly different, we are all facing the same types of challenges and purchase basically the same type of goods and services. In addition, many of us work for smaller agencies and wear many different hats. Our responsibilities in a smaller agency tend to be more diverse and sometimes don’t fit the traditional Purchasing Agent role. PPAET provides training, networking and support on a regional level, allowing us to brainstorm and share ideas that are relative to our location and size.

Over the past two years, I have enjoyed being part of this growing organization and am honored to serve as PPAET President this year. Thank you to all of you that have volunteered to serve and to those that have already joined. I would like to extend a personal invitation to join our group!   The future is very bright and we have lots of exciting events planned this year. I hope that you will consider joining and taking advantage of all that we have to offer.

If you have any questions or suggestions on how we can continue to grow, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your consideration, I look forward to seeing you soon!
